Nice idea in #1. I think I would like to see less of the vehicle and rods and more of the bg. Top marks for creativity.

#2 is also an interesting shot, but the dark shape of the dog is too dominant for my taste. I thought it was a rock at first. More light on the dog's face might help.

#3 is my pick from these. Nicely exposed and beautiful light on the sand.

Nice but more importantly did you catch any fish?

Thanks guys. Especially Alan for the detail comments. Nothing I can do about #1 now but I can lift the dogs face for sure.

Didn't fish off the beach here Ross but did catch fish on the trip yes. Though nothing worth talking about really. Catfish (heaps), grunter (some) and yellow belly (none big). Did manage to catch enough yabbies for a decent feed one day though.

A nice set of images giving a different view of the much photographed Cable Beach. #3 just edging out #1 as my pick Toddy. I don't mind the rods being there as that is one of the main reasons for people visiting the beach.

I had a look at #2 again and on my laptop I see plenty of detail in the dog. Work computer looks much darker. Is it too dark for everyone? If so I'll have to do something about my laptop screen brightness.

Definitely dark on my PC but there's plenty of detail left in it even as a small jpeg. I've done a lift in shadows on the dog's face and changed the crop a bit so the head is not taking up quite so much of the frame.

Thanks Greg. There's heaps left in the RAW file so adjusting is no problem. I went to do it last night but it looked like it didn't need it. I'll have to have another look.

What program are you processing the raw files with?

Lightroom 6. I think 6.14 or whatever the last update was.

Todd, Is your laptop display calibrated? If not the first couple of pages of this site may be helpful. I used to use it before I bought a calibration system. Looks like the site was last updated in 2008 so not sure if it is dated or not.

Lovely to get some creativity happening Todd. #3 is a keeper. Lightening up doggie does improve it.
