  • Sailing in to Izmir

This was taken on a Mediterranean cruise we did back in 2011. Lovely golden hour sunrise over misty mountains.
    Canon 5d MkI, f 14.0 1/200 sec. ISO 100, Tamron 28-300 @ 300mm 6:40 AM.

Well composed John. I do like the colours and the layers add to the charm of the image. I see it as almost a minimalistic photo and it would look good on the wall. Lovely work. You could play with coloured overlays to make a triptych from it while on your Photoshop learning journey

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks for the kind words Isac. I do like this photo, although it breaks a few of the "rules", such as rule of thirds, no leading lines and no point of interest. Maybe a bit of a crop at the top?

No cropping needed IMHO. It helps balance the image and the ratio is good too. Here's what can happen just by adding a tree layer (from the local area of course) and a hue/sat layer.

A bit too blue for me Isac, but I get the idea. So many possibilities.

A quick triptych made using Camera Raw dragging the Temperature slider all the way left to get the blue cast, and dragging the Tint slider all the way to the right to get the pink hue.
Now all I have to do is find a tute so I can add a nice background and frame.

The blue was just to show what can be done John, so you've picked up on that OK. You could start with some of my freebie mattes and frames actions from my website. Real easy and you can step through the actions to see how they are done.

I'll have a go at that real soon. Not today, I've got a footy game to watch.

I recon the original is not too bad with just a little cropping as you suggested. Plus a little addition for interest sake.
