Compare results and I think that feeling might go away Alan. Lovely colours and love the inclusion of a seagull.

Yeah Alan ... I'd agree with Todd here too
Of the two images, it's #1 for me, poss as the rocks are larger in the frame along with the bright clouds
ps- theother 'togs might be more posers than real 'togs too

I prefer #2 as well. It's that second bird in the sky, and the bird on the ground is looking into the photo (looking at the photographer actually) and not facing out of the photo. Small detail maybe, but important, I think.
Elizabeth says she can never take me anywhere because I just spoil things. Well here it comes. I can detect fringing along the top of the black rocks in both images, but especially #1. Did you edit this, cause it's not as bad this morning as it was yesterday? Gives a blurred look to the top of the rocks which is a bit of a spoiler.
Surprised no-one else has seen this.Charles
My indecision is final, I think.

Had to zoom in to see the fringing but you're right Charles. It's definitely there.

Thanks Charles. Good point about the birds.
I did notice the fringing, but the only thing I can think of is the 1/20 sec exposure had something to do with it. The camera was on a tripod, but I didn't use a remote shutter release.
I haven't edited anything since I first posted when I changed my sig on #1.
I just went back to the originals and it's still there in the RAW image. It was taken at 400 ISO with my usually very good Sigma 10-20mm. Looks like some sort of chromatic aberration maybe?
Cheers

Looks like CA to me, had to zoom to see it as I'm only on a crappy lappy.
Dark rocks against a bright sky is always going to be problematic and having the tripod in sand could contribute to blurring on a slowish exposure I suppose.
