  • Sunset over the incoming tide

    G'day all

I spotted a couple of mangrove trees on the edge of the sands and decided to go back at sunset

Here's the best of them ...

1- a coastal mangrove getting the last rays of the sun

    exif - Panny G2; 10mm; 60s x F16; ISO-100; ND-100

2- several of the mangroves with the water well up the trunks

    exif - Panny G2; 10mm; 50s x F16; ISO-100; ND-100

3- the post-sundown glow in the sky & across the water's surface

    exif - Panny G2; 14-42 @ 25; 40s x F16; ISO-100; ND-100

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

Very nice Phil. Do you know how much rise and fall there is in the tide there?

      Nice series Phil.
Only feedback is I can't help but think you've missed a trick with #1. More of those mangrove roots with the gold and the shadows could have provided an extra point of interest.

          G'day Todd

How's this one then ... I chose the 1st for the movement in the leaves / branches, but am open to better visions than mine
No editing at this stage - just let me know your thoughts ... #1 or #2

That's it Phil. Perfect. Adds an extra point of interest. I much prefer that one. Gives it extra depth too.

I like them a lot Phil. Really good light and framing and those colours are fabulous. 2nd version of the first for me as well. Just fix the top corners and if you want to adjust the shadows a tad that may lift it a bit. Cheers, Greg.

                  G'day all

Okay everyone - thanks for your feedback re #4 above ... here's the edited version of the 2nd take of that subject ... ie: with more foreground included

camera exposure as shown above #1 ...
editing - [because Ruth asked for some info from us all]
                  a) a tiny bit of cloning to delete the top corner vignetting [that sometimes occurs with my using the ND100 filter on the super-wide lens]
                  b) a tiny adjustment of Levels - bringing the RHS from 255 to 230
                  c) a 10% boost to saturation to emphasise the redness of the tree trunk

                  Hope this helps
                  Phil

Well done Phil! good to see a young fella like yourself taking on the CC and implementing it so well. Never too old to learn are we? Between you and me, I've learned a few things from you as we've journeyed with you on this forum. Thanks.
