  • Cargo boat journey - Cairns to Thursday Island

    G'day all

There is a small cargo boat, MV Trinity Bay operating out of Cairns in northern Queensland. It does a weekly run from Cairns to Thursday Island and several other ports, and it also takes passengers making it somewhat unique. Here's some images from our recent run

1- typical of boat during loading / unloading operations

    Panny G2; 14-140 @ 45mm; 1/500s x F8; ISO-100

2- Low Isles - one of many small islands passed during the trip

    Panny G2; 14-140 @ 140; 1/500s x F6,3; ISO-100

3- wonderful, tropical, delightful and a swim here might be your last ~ saltwater crocodiles are an ever present danger

    Panny G2; 14-140 @ 55mm; 1/500s x F8; ISO-100

4- one of many pleasant days 'out'

    Panny G2; 14-140 @ 14mm; 1/320s x F7,1; ISO-100

5- holding $20,000 of pearls [the dozen strands being viewed - and another 1/2-dozen strands lying loosely on the table!]

    Panny G2; 14-140 @ 14; 1/125s x F4; ISO-100

6- the business side of things - night operations

    Panny G2; 14-140 @ 14mm; 1/15s x F3,5; ISO-100 [carefully resting elbows on boat hull to avoid shake]

    As always, comments welcome
    Phil

#3 for me Phil. I don't know if I could resist dipping my feet into that water even knowing there's crocs about.
Being picky but I think a crop of some of the sky would add to the image. Would really focus the attention on that shoreline.

Yep, very nice photo diary. Those old coastal freighters are so interesting and a great way to Island hop.
