  • Dawn over the very "top of Oz"

    G'day all

Just got home from a beaut week long boat trip ... Cairns to Thursday Island & return
The weekly supply boat also takes passengers - there were 17-18 or so on board, plenty of freedom to wander around and take pics, tho many are very similar
Here's one from 6:20am during the 10 minutes it went from black as night to sunrise

As always, comments & feedback welcome
ps- Album of images to be seen at ... https://www.flickr.com/photos/ozzie_...h/39342825820/ if you want to follow up

What gets you out of bed at that time? Captured the moment to perfection. Was it a good trip, decent food?

Hans ... it was one of the best week-long trips I have done in the last 30-40 years

The cargo boat MV Trinity Bay is the only cargo boat in Oz that is licensed to also take passengers - and it was great because of the small numbers of passengers, there were no TVs blasting away with useless guff, the food was equal to the best restaurants I have been to [bearing in mind that the chef is cooking for 2-dozen crew + passengers all in one go]

Every meal had 3 or 4 courses to choose from, MTeas + ATeas were substantial, alcohol was restricted as it was a working ship, fresh food / fruits were always in abundance
One night's meal was 'seafood' with unlimited choice/ amounts of king prawns + morton bay bugs + fillets of fish + choice of roast veges or chips & salad with dessert of diced fresh fruits or choice of 2 cake-slice things + 2 sorts of ice cream.
Choosing your food became a 'problem'

ps- I produce a travel blog emailed to family & friends ... if you would like a copy of this journey [it's a PDF doc] give me a shout at "Ozzie_Traveller@Yahoo.com" and I will send you a copy

Very nice indeed, rather calming is the feeling I get from the shot.
