This scene grabbed my attention when driving along. It was mainly the sky. Looking at it I notice a semi circular pattern in the middle that I don't recall at the time. Now wondering if it was the sun through the clouds or a lens aberration? It does have a bit of rainbow about it.

Polarized light most likely, not seen through your lens but rendered on the sensor. Some diffraction at the edge of the circle. This is a characteristic of ice crystals in the atmosphere. They are cirrus clouds I see. The light from the road is also partly polarized.

Thanks for that observation Dingo. Seems a likely scenario.

Very good images HansE. The layers are fabulous and I love the scale you've captured as well as all the interesting elements.

Thank you. It was the layers that was the obvious attraction to the scene in the first shot. The second was taken in the same location. The reason I pulled up was the sky and the road. Pissed off some South African because the car was about 150mm on the road. He was the only one that passed while I was there so I think he was pretty safe.

Why would you do this? That's how you get coined.
