  • Desert Queen Baths in Rudall Nat. Park

This is Pool 3 in a series of 5 pools at DQB located in the remote Rudall Nat. Park. Long drive, about two or three days from anywhere, followed by a long walk in. Finding a place like this in the middle of what is basically a desert was quite a treat.

Not too sure about the colours here but I'm working on a crappy monitor.

(Ordered an Eizo ev2455 24" monitor this morning and cannot wait for it to arrive)

      Sounds like the proverbial oasis.

Number one has a lovely intermingling patchwork of the colours and textures and tones. It also has nice natural framing with the bush land bank and a good sense of balance.

I like the perspective in number two, it creates a sense of mystery. There's a nice use of thirds in the three elements of bank, rock and water. The combinations of blues and oranges create a very powerful colour contrast. In my opinion screen the orange looks a bit too bright to be natural.

Your images make it look very special.

Thanks Greg. It's a peaceful place that attracts few visitors due to the isolation and difficult access. Not the sort of place to be visited just once imho, I feel the need to get back there sometime.

Insightful comments as always Jo. Yes, I think the reds may be overcooked slightly and I'll revisit this image when my new monitor arrives.

        Cheers.

Beautiful images Mick and Jo has, as usual, done a better job with the CC than I could.

Certainly looks like a place to return to.

Thanks Alan. It's a narrow gorge and as you can see, trees everywhere so difficult to capture. I'd love to return and have another crack at it.

Not a chance the Commodore would even get close. I might only keep it for a year or so then upgrade to 4wd.

Agree with Jo re the orange being slightly overdone. Otherwise a great reflection of those red Kimberly rocks.
