  • Cathederal Gorge in the Bungle Bungle

Not the best of shots but at least it gives an idea. Had a bus load of tourists right behind me so just time for a quick hand held snap. Needed a tripod really and more time to compose.

    Spectacular!

Great that you had some-one there to give size perspective.

Yeah it's very special Greg. The entire Bungle Bungle is pretty wild country.

Thanks guys. The Bungles are fairly easy to access once you're in the Kimberley, just a 54km drive in from the blacktop about 100kms south of Halls Creek. The track in can get a bit rough and that deters many but it's well worth the effort.

I sooo want to get there.

Agree with Greg about including someone for scale.

Yes, not one of your best shots but pretty good for a snap.

Probably worth going back to get it right...

I'll be going back for sure Alan, I didn't realize the scale of the place, it's huge.

The drive in is just the beginning and I covered over 150kms on top of the 54km track in, was getting low on fuel and couldn't move around as much as I wanted to. To get to this gorge involved a 30km drive then a 2km walk then it was 70km to the next spot plus a 5km walk. If chasing good light much planning required and I wasted a lot of time being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Next time I'll have a plan!

Red Rock country. Love it Mick.
              How deep was the waterhole?

Not deep at all Todd, maybe a metre or so. Would love to see it after good rains but impossible to get anywhere near the place once the rains start. A few creek crossings along the way.

Yeah a hole deep enough to swim would be nice but I did think it looked shallow. Those are the little gems that dot the outback that make it so special.

Looks gorgeous Mick. I like the shot personally, so I would have to say, you didn't Bungle it as you may have thought.
