Thanks Greg.
People in a hurry to get to the coast kept running into the trees and contributing to the road toll. The number of crosses with plastic flowers was sobering.
So the powers that be decided that the trees were the problem and were going to cut the damn things down.
You can imagine the furore that ensued from the residents of Braidwood and anyone else who traveled that road who had the slightest bit of regard for Trees, Nature, History, Landscape Aesthetics etc
Common sense prevailed eventually and the speed limit was lowered.
Except, Eurobodalla Council then calculated that the time wasted in lowering the speed was costing businesses $400,000 a year
This is worth a read as there must be a script for 'Utopia' in there somewhere

Since the 80km/h zone was put in place either side of Braidwood in 2013, there have been no major crashes in the area, despite the poor state of the road. (posted in 2014 - I have no recent data)

Country Road ..... dum de dum.... I feel a song coming on.
I just hope you weren't moving at 80 kms when you took the photos. Self driving cars are not here yet!! And I/we don't want you contributing to the road toll.
Charles
My indecision is final, I think.

We had poplars as well, at one time. Damn councils and business people.
