  • Serpentine River

Realised that this part of the river, that's about 15kms from home faces west. Thought it would have great photogenic properties..if the sky was just a bit more...well just more.

Good question Pete, I had to go look it up. It ends in the Mandurah Estuary and seems to become nothing but a drainage system as it heads towards Rockingham. Who knows where it may have run once upon a time.
I think Serpentine is a common name for rivers because it describes the way it snakes around.

I Google Mapped it, what the hell have they done to a great river. I wish they would leave things alone. They screwed up the Collie river in the same manner, and that was because of their fear of a 100 year flood. Shame.

When I was a kid we used to go to the Dam and have picnics. Over 50 years ago. Things change.

The soft processing makes for a relaxing and calming feel. (To me, the sharpness of the bird seems to work at odds with the rest of the processing - but that may have been the effect you were after)

      Looks like a lovely spot

I used a free program called "Perfect Effects" with one of the presets. I think it was "Lord of the Rings" to give that soft dreamy feel.
You've made a good point about how sharp that tern looks. A very good eye for detail you have.
Trying to find a river that heads towards the sun/moon set. Thought this was going to be it..but no potato.

We've still got some beautiful spots here in WA Jo. I think this is a great photo. I kinda agree with Alan about the bird but it's nowhere near a distraction for me. Well done.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks for that feedback Isac. It's appreciated.
I do wish there were a few more hills. Everything seems so flat.

Ha just noticed the duck in the water. It must be a good shot it keeps bringing me back. Not to WA though. 50 Years in one state is enough.
