We were on an excellent cruise. The captain made sure we were there a day early to catch some good weather. My first but definitely not last cruise on Holland America Line. Took the cruise to see the Chilean Fjords which we didn't see much of because of the weather. The sky was that clear that you misjudged distances by double. They wouldn't even let people smoke on deck. The beauty is I have quite a few shots that I like though no close ups of whales

WOW. The exposure, tones and processing in #1 make for an extraordinary image, (right place right time ) Could maybe crop some of the bright sky off the top - or give it a bit more processing? But I think the beautifully lit landscape is the hero in this photograph.

The left 1/3 of #2 is darker than the rest - some sort of banding?

edit (must have been typing at the same time Mick )

No banding just reflections. Sky and mountains.

People were very well dressed for summer. Especially when we got some 50 knot winds.

Not bad shooting from a boat.

Thank you, the boat was a good platform at normal exposures.

I have no reason for the almost sepia tone but have pictures of icebergs as big as city blocks.

Glad I wasn't born a penguin. Talk about doing it tough.

These are fantastic Hans. Good on you for doing the trip, must have been quite an experience.

(rather be a penguin than a small fish, just saying)

Icebergs Consecutive pictures huge difference in how the camera sees the different focal lengths.

Excellent images Hans. Certainly a different world than I am used to. I went up into the Arctic Circle in summer many years ago when I was backpacking around Europe, but am yet to see Antarctica........one day......I hope.....
            Cheers, Brad.

Thanks for the kind words. We did it the easy way. Whenever my hands got to cold to take pictures I sent back inside to warm up. We were told that we were very lucky with the weather. People that had been many times had not seen it like this. The Zaandam from the Holland America line was the best choice in cruise ships we have made so far.

Icebergs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. I is also interesting to see the wake toppeling some over.
