East Pilbara

[loose cannon]

A few images from the East Pilbara region of WA.

Hopefully they'll give you an idea of what's out there, not too many people wander out this way preferring to stick closer to the coast. As I've mentioned before these are some of the oldest rock formations on the planet and when in the area I certainly feel a sense of timelessness. Easy to feel very small and insignificant.

By Pilbara standards some of these could be described as 'lush and green" as there had been some rain prior to my arrival in the region.

Glad you like them Todd. All these were captured over a short section of track, maybe four or five kms. Plenty to see in the back country.

It certainly is a vast landscape up there Mick. You've captured it well - colours, long shadows and the red dirt all make up the expanse of this fascinating place. I've seen a bit of it when I worked at Tom Price and Wittenoom. We had a big workshop just near the gorge, a popular swimming hole. A couple of years back my son in law gave me a tour of the Paraburdoo and Eastern Ranges mines and it was a real eye opener. Hundreds of photos and I got to take a burst lot of a blast - fantastic. I won't comment on the tech stuff of your photos because I think you and Alan are way better at that than I am. Thanks for the view.

Cheers Isac. It's lovely country around Tom Price, Para and Wittenoom. I lived in Dampier for a while and worked on the railways and powerlines.

Great series. #1 may have a blown sky but I find the perspective intriguing. #2 would be my favourite - love the tones and all the detail you have captured here.
