Extraordinary place, thought I'd share a few images as I tackle the daunting task of sorting though my files...dear me, I have some culling to do lol.

The colours of the dunes vary from yellow as seen here to various shades of red and a soft /pinkmagenta similiar to the colour found on a pink and grey galah.

I'd appreciate feedback especially on things like exposure and colours, using a new computer and unfamiliar software is testing me a bit. Not confident about any of these images and ones to follow in subsequent threads. They look good to me but I have no benchmark at present.

These shots work for me Mick. Nothing wrong with the colors or exposures.

    #2 especially is very striking.

In #1, I like the way the road disappears in the distance. Gives the shot a real feeling of depth so important in landscapes. .

My indecision is final, I think.

Thanks Charles. Agree with your comment on depth in landscapes, something I was aware of but struggled with on this trip.

Learned a lot so that's a good thing.

I can only accept the colour as you portray it. The closest I've been to the Simpson Desert is the dust under vehicles I've worked on thats been there!

        Love the little spikey fellow!

Stunning colours - I particularly like #2 those red dunes against a plain blue sky work beautifully and the small tuft of grass sets it off. Doubt I'd like to step on #3. Like the composition of #1, it does seem just a little bright to me but like Greg, never having been there, I don't know what the colours are actually like.

the colours will often change some what depending times, light directions and viewing direction so no one can really argue about corrects colours. Artist often take samples home so they can colour match as close as possible. Slip back and get a few samples

first one looks a bit like midday light (just noticed the time on the file lol)

Thanks Anna. Yeah, it's serious 4wd country and slow going all the way. Going slow is something my hilux excels at lol.

                            G'day Mick

On my lappy the colours seem slightly rich - if I had to make something of it I would say "up by 10% from normal"
Camera work - as always 10/10

Thanks for that Phil, I felt that might be the case, too much contrast I think.

The images from the Sigma DP2 are brilliant but very difficult to process, I'll get the hang of it eventually. Not a big fan of over processed landscapes.
