  • Gibson Desert

A pano from the iphone of the Gunbarrell Highway.

The sense of isolation is palpable when out here on your own, a mystical and ancient landscape. You can see forever out here, there are no limits.

Imagine hundreds of kilometres of these desert oaks, it takes days to drive through here.

Read a very interesting book by Leonard Beadell a few years a go on how he created/surveyed that very famous track (Gunbarral)...hope you are travelling a little easier than he did

        Cheers....

Cheers folks. I've been reading all of Len Beadells books as I work my way along his tracks. Fascinating man and yes, I'm doing it a lot easy than he did.

Good to see your enjoying your trip mine Prince. Truly fascinating landscapes out there and well portrayed in your wonderful images (worthy of an Australiana publication).

Thank you Isac. I'm keen to begin phase 2 of the journey after I leave Adelaide. Stony and Painted deserts then onto the Anne Beadell track, this is where the serious stuff starts.

Nice work Mick - glad it's going well. I also enjoyed reading Len's books some years ago.
