  • Rainbow and rain

No impressive sunrises as too much low cloud and fog every morning but still a great view to enjoy.

    How nice!
Top shot and a stunning place to sit and soak it in to boot!

I love the closer heavy rain breaking the rainbow in the distance as it makes it real and gives the capture a lot of depth perspective to me.

It makes me want to pour a black coffee and add a dash of bourbon with honey and sit right back.
I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can't see from the center.

Absolutely agree with Eden. And you are giving me some good ideas .........

Wot he said - sounds good to me

The coffee and bourbon would encourage me to add even more drama to the sky, (but I may regret it in the morning - heard that before)

Thanks Eden, Charles and Alan. I do think the sky is a little washed out looking so have added a grad filter in PP which I think looks better

Have you got the Nik software Gabby?

I gave the image a hit with the detail extractor filter. Didn't bother with any fine tuning as it's hard to work on a jpeg so it looks slightly overcooked in some areas but it can be an excellent tool if used discretely. .Just a thought.

Hmmm...I must say my edit has lost a lot of impact at upload. Side by side view of both images on my monitor gives a different view entirely.

Oh well, still worth looking at the detail extractor for this kind of image Gabby.

Lovely relaxing scene Gabby. I wouldn't do any more than just a wee crop off the bottom.

Thanks Mick. I do have the Nik software - will give the detail extractor a go. I often find uploading here changes the appearance of my images a little.
Thanks Greg - we stayed at a place overlooking the valley and loved the view.
Thanks Bill - we had lots of cloud but most of the rain stayed down in the valley.

I know it is a bit after the fact, but

I love this shot the more I see it,

I only use the windows software at the moment but would wind the contrast down a lil and the saturation up a tad,

you want the rainbow to be the proverbial dogs-b_lls in this shot

here is my average pp of the jpeg off the screen just to show where I was thinking but only as an example of where I was thinking,

I hope you are Ok with me playing!

No I never mind people playing with my images - they often think of things I don't. I do like the extra saturation in the sky in your edit but I'm finding the greens in the valley a little too lime for me.

                        Dear PPlates

Someone has accused of plagiarizing the above edit and using it as my own on flickr,

I posted my edit to flickr then used the BB share option to link it to this thread above,

It has been up for 24 hrs and I usually leave it there for 48hrs before removing it as the image instantly disappears from this thread.

I have used flikr this way for 2 years and always remove others images after 48 hrs if they are not mine!

this is the conversation for your info and I offer it to you so that you see I am genuine.

I would never claim anothers capture as my own and you can see my acknowledgement to Doug for his B+W edit of my capture of the Largs Jetty in my flickr page

I will happily remove the edit from your thread PPlates right now if you wish or after the 48 hrs that I normally do ( phone reminder works every time).

                        Cheers Eden
