  • Late afternoon at the dam

We were down at Awoonga late afternoon - haven't been for a couple of months and was amazed at how much lower the water was. We desperately need rain.

Just a little south of Gladstone. A very large dam - expanded to feed local industry's insatiable appetite for water and over the last decade stocked with barramundi fingerlings. Although there is still a lot of water between the barra. A lot were lost over the spillway during the last lot of floods. It's a popular area, you can swim, fish, waterski etc.

Looks like a beaut spot and you've chosen beautiful light to do it justice too.

I realise you are trying to show the low state of the water, rather than create a 'landscape' photo.

Hence the sprouting trees, exposed roots, wire and steps (which don't do your first photo any artistic favours.)

Same with the second photo - the foreground could be cropped out to produce a nice 'pano,' but it again seems to show how low the water has become.

      So, a successful outcome

Thanks Barb and Alan. Really just a couple of snapshots at the end of the day while watching all the boats come back to the ramp.
