  • Super Moon

A group of us went to the local beach to photograph the moonrise. Unfortunately when it first appeared above the horizon it was still too light and you could barely see it.

Nice set Glenda. I remember reading about the super moon last month but then completely forgot about it!
Hope you don't mind but I couldn't resist taking the moon from your first and placing it in the second...

        Nice set.
I too think that #2 is the best of them.

Thanks Sandy, Gaz and Scott. You're just too fast Gaz, actually just edited another one and did exactly that.

These last 2 are looking good as well Have stood in that very same spot a few times and watched the sun come up. Nice colours in that sunset also.

            Cheers...

I have tried to get the moon early and late afternoon PP and suffered the same fete with the moon being very hard to see close to the ocean.
I think that photographing the moon large and detailed in a low light landscape is near on impossible.
You need long exposure for the landscape and short exposure for the moon.
Anyway, your photos are nice nice looking seascapes and a pleasure to look at.

Haven't been there, not done that.

Thanks Gaz - thought you'd recognise the area.
Thanks Jo, there was plenty of light for these shots - just wanted the moon larger in the composited one. I've been trying for ages to get a good scenic shot of the moon on that one day of the month when it rises not long before the sun sets. Mother Nature often plays dirty with low clouds though and the one time I saw that magic red coloured moon I was late arriving and missed the shot. But, I'll keep trying.
