  • At Bogong Village

Yesterday we did a 500klm ride over Falls Creek, down to Glen Wills, up to Mitta Mitta along the fully sealed Omeo Highway, across to Dartmouth, up to Mt Benambra, back down to Granya and home across the Wymah Ferry. Ripper day in mostly perfect weather

This photo taken at the Junction Dam and, I think, looking towards Mt Nelse

Wow!!! Great framing, nice comp and 5 different bands of colours...
Heaps of detail in the foreground and the greens contrasting with the blues above really set this off.

Perhaps you should put it in "Pick it to Pieces" and see what the serious Critiques have to say? "Just saying"

What if there were no Hypothetical questions?

+1 from me. Very nice composition. Foreground, mid-ground, background and sky effectively balanced.

The sky is a bit over saturated for me - too blue at the top. And I feel those clouds have a bit more contrast and texture in them.

And ..... landscape mode. I guess that's why they call it 'landscape' mode. But I would like to see this shot in landscape, to see more on the RHS. Just looks a bit cut off.

Many here will disagree, and rightly so. "Charles, you have proven yet again what an old douchebag you are", I hear people thinking if not actually saying. It's OK - I'm used to it.

Admission: I have a real problem with landscapes in portrait mode. Most for me just don't work. Call it an irrational prejudice, mental block or whatever you like. It's my problem which I thought I'd share.
        Charles

My indecision is final, I think.

I like it Barb. The only picks I would make is to brighten that tree shadow on the left to almost blend with the grassy area and perhaps crop a wee bit off the top to just between those tufts of leaves on the top RHS. That way it balances better and for some... it won't be quite as obvious a portrait format. (Not that that matters to me)!

PS. Bet he's taken some portraits in Landscape format!

Like it Barb except the sky which, I have to go with Charles here, is way too blue. I have no problem with landscapes in portrait and think some work really well. Like the way you have used the trunk as a left hand frame. I'd be tempted to crop some of both the bottom and top and maybe lighten just a tad.

I did lighten the tree trunk a little, didn't want to go too much
Kept the top right leaves for framing

                  Thanks Gabby
The sky in the mountains is an incredible blue, unlike on the flats, but agree probably a tad too blue

Another great shot, the water adds to this one.
Just looked up your trip, hope you didn't rush it, looks like very interesting country.

That is much better Barb. I did misread your original and saw, what I thought all shadow was actually water. The LS view clarified that for me.
                        Cheers.

Thanks Gaz ...... We left home around 8.30 (I think) at Mt Beauty at 10.20 for a cuppa .... home at 6pm. It was an easy ride (always quicker on bike than car ). Have ridden to all places before and will be heading to Omeo for the Easter (week) break.
