Wide. There's enough light hitting the handrail to keep me interested. Also with the square version my eye seems to stop dead at the bend but with the pano I feel drawn into the image.

Another vote for #1 - beautiful image. #2 does make me feel I could step onto the boardwalk but my eyes travel more in #1.
