  • Driving through the Warumbungles

40 deg heat, really strong winds - every time I hopped out of the car I felt like I was stepping into a fan forced oven.

Wow - that's amazing. It's like the skin has been peeled off revealing the skeleton underneath

I like Alan's comment, describes the images perfectly.

I really like #1. Road images will get me every time and that's an absolute beauty.

Ohhh there was a lot of damage. What an incredible rock it looks now, from both images, I always thought they were remarkable before. #2 is so stark and sad really. Ditto what Alan and Mick said and thanks so much for braving the oven to get these and share.

In autumn I must make an effort to go to the Warrambungles to take some photographs before they get hidden under the bush. They look much more spectacular unclothed. It is your great photos that have reminded me to make the effort and go. Thanks

Thanks Alan. Yes the fire had certainly stripped the trees and everything was extremely dry as well.

Thanks Mick. We were the only fools driving through in that heat which at least enabled me to stand in the road for that shot.

Thanks Jenne. After experiencing the conditions on that day I can appreciate how quickly a fire would spread.

Thanks Inapickle - glad to help. I think autumn would be a far more sensible time to visit there.
