These aren't grabbing me as much as the others - maybe the mist is a bit too heavy in these.

The colour seems to be slightly muddy on these when compared to the earlier images.

I can see a couple of great moody b&ws lurking though.

Thanks very much for the comments - I actually prefer #1 to all the others - thought it looked a bit Turnerish - go figure

Guess the 'muddiness' is because the mist is thicker, as Gabby suggested. But it did have the effect of not blowing out the sun so much - can win them all

I tried B&W Mick, but I couldn't get them to work, but please have a play

Would love to get another perspective

        Cheers

I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that there had been a massive volcanic eruption at the time Turner was painting and that his imagery may well have influenced by a sky laden with volcanic ash. Just thought I'd share, don't confuse me with anyone who actually knows something about art history.

When I first viewed them I found myself humming Van Morrison's Into the Mystic.

Anyway , with mystical thoughts rambling through my brain this is what i came up with. Not too sure about the second one. Thanks for letting me have a play Alan.

Thanks Mick - better than my attempts. Please feel free to play with any of my images (I do it often enough with other's pics )

I guess having seen the colour versions - ummmm

Interesting theory about the volcanic eruption around the time of Turner - that might explain a few things - off to Goggle - with 'Into the Mystic' running around my brain

            Cheers

Thanks for the links Alan as they provide much more information than I previously encountered.

Time to top up the memory banks and do some reading.
