  • Three days in Auckland. Travel advice.

Need to travel to Auckland for work this month. I am planning to stay on for the weekend for travel and photo opportunity. Please inform me what must I NOT Miss in Auckland ?(just have three days), Will rent a car for the weekend and force my partner(he is not keen) fly down to keep me in company since I don't have any friends in this city.... Worth renting a car to travel further out? If you have some great shots of Auckland please post here and I will soon join the cue.

    with regards,

If he likes Army stuff the Museum in the Domain has a fairly good display of that nature.

If you really want something different get a rental racer and drive down to Woodlyn Park at Waitomo, watch the show, stay in one of the strange motel units and do the Waitomo caves and see the kiwi display at Otorohanga.

          (I'm only half joking).

K1W1 has hit the nail on the head and Sky City is a must

Aukland itself is quite a nice place just to walk around and see the sights, there is quite a lot and you won't take it all in with one weekend! Just stay away from the camera stores, they are pretty darn expensive over there!

Never make the same mistake twice, there are so many new ones, try a different one each day

They all sound fantastic for me as I am into anything and everything that is new. However, my man loves fishing and resting. 2/1h hour drive might be pushing it
it a little ...Getting him to come to NZ for weekend is even a big favour. He loves home and hates planes, airports and credit cards. .

You must be a real KIWI! From North or South?

There are some wonderful photo opportunities in and around Auckland.

You should get quite a few strolling along the waterfront.

To add to K1W1's great list, here are a few others...

Just down the road from Kelly Tarltons is Mission Bay

Western Springs also worth checking out

Western Springs is a residential suburb and park in the west of the city of Auckland in the north of New Zealand. It is located four kilometres to the west of the city centre, situated to the north of State Highway 16.
The suburb is dominated by the large park (featuring a lake with a variety of birdlife), within which are situated Auckland Zoo, Western Springs Stadium and M.O.T.A.T. (the Museum of Transport and Technology)[1]. The park is the location of the annual Pasifika Festival, one of Auckland's most popular public events.
Across the road from the Zoo is the school of Western Springs College, with a student population of around 1050. Some students attend Mount Albert Grammar School. Catholic students commute to St Paul's College or St Mary's College, Marist College or St Peter's College.

                  Parnell Village

Have a great trip, we'll be there in February!

EDIT: Here you go I just found this site
