  • Powering Melbourne

HT Power lines travel towards Melbourne carrying electricity generated by the brown coal burning power stations in the La Trobe Valley.

I think the second has a stronger composition. Both the towers and the foliage stand out much more sstrongly.

In the first the towers and foliage tend to merge, although it's a nice touch to include the high-rise buildings on the horizon.

Agree. The first one was more a political statement than a photo. Brown coal derived electricity traveling over the natural environment to power the city skyscrapers.
It does show one advantage of IR though. For the naked eye the buildings of Melbourne (20+km in a straight line) were barely visible through the haze. IR cut right through that.
