  • Model Powerboat

This model powerboat was racing across Tygum Lagoon this morning. A model boat club has a building here and you usually see model sailing boats. I'm sure there is a sign forbidding powerboats on the lake but this one sounded electric and the sign probably means petrol engines.

They do make for some awesome boating action shots Alan and you've captured it spot on. I would still call it a power boat because it's powered. There doesn't seem to be any thought for the wildlife by the operator.

Thanks Isac. Definitely a powerboat and seems to be allowed. This one was staying clear of the birds.

I would have thought model sail boats would have fallen under that definition as well then. They are electrically powered for the rigging and rudders, etc. No powered vehicle rules are usually there to preserve water quality.

Yes K1W1, you are correct, I was wondering about the wording, but I’m not even sure if the restriction is still there. The other concern would be the speed and noise effects.
