  • Yachting on Canberra's Lake Burley Griffin

    G'day all

No doubt most Aussies know about Australia's capital city, Canberra ... that it surrounds the man-made Lake Burley Griffin, named after the American town planner and designer Walter Burley Griffin. His designs back 100+ yrs ago brought him and his wife to Australia and his foresight and city design visualisation is a wonder to perceive and enjoy

Each weekend, especially during the summer months, the keen yachties are out and about, duelling one another in order to win whatever race is in progress

1)- a group with Black Mountain communications tower in the background

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/1000s x F4,0; ISO-100; lens at 2x zoom - 60mm FFequiv

2)- around the marker buoy and off across the wind ... these two were vying for the lead

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/1000s x F4,0; ISO-100; lens at 20x zoom - 500mm FFequiv

3)- another duel in another race - these two were having a great tussle trying to put a wind shadow over the other boat

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/400s x F4,0; ISO-100; lens at 22x zoom - 550mm FFequiv

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

One place I haven't seen Phil. Great images of a good Aussie pastime. I see you cut the sail tops off in #3

I just fired myself from cleaning my house.
I don't like my attitude and I caught myself drinking on the job.

Good shots Phil. I think #1 and $3 could do with a bit more contrast. Removing the space on the left of the histogram would help without blocking up any important blacks, although you may lose a little shadow detail.

Good job but I would have been inclined to make #3 a portrait instead of a landscape it is after all taller than it's wide!
