That's something you don't see very often - new gates on a farm. The new metal gives the image an industrial look.

Yeah mate ... but bushfire or flood damage means that some of 'em are lucky enough to be able to renew their old 'n rusty stuff

In wet climes it doesn't take long at all to form rust on bare steel. Here a few hours can be enough to get things going on freshly cut stuff.
The chain in your image had abraded the original surface finish, allowing rust.

I must have loads of rust shots altogether but nothing that springs to mind handy.

I've made a minor edit to my initial post that will hopefully make the original intent more obvious.
Phils image in post 1 is the only one.

Interesting locking mechanism. Over here it would probably have a bolt and a padlock on the chain.
