  • FI-FO accommodation

    G'day all

Another of Aussie's Fly-in ... Fly-out mine workers' camp with these accommodation 'dongers' all in rows, copping the bright sunshine. Although Aircon units are attached to the windows, I do not think this remote outpost had enough power to keep them running on a hot day

    As always, feedback welcome

Well spotted with those great textures, light and shade. I've camped in dongas like that in our NW and wouldn't have survived without the AC units.

        Thanks fellas
yeah - this location was a one-blink and you -did- miss it, with power lines being only a single wire strung between small upsize units on the poles
About 100m away from these dongas was a generator unit the size of a Toyo 20-seater bus chugging away 24/7 just for these cabins

I've stayed in donga's at Karratha and Dampier, not an experience I would like to repeat. Two weeks is about maximum any reasonable person could endure. It is handy that the toilet is only one step from your bed though

I stayed in dongas in Wittenoom at Hamersley-Ex. We were located right at the bottom of the gorge and it was stinkin' hot. 13 days on 1 day off. I was the head mechanic in a huge workshop - no aircon. I must say it helped me drop a few kilos.

Good job Phil.. Anything with a flat roof and made of tin I keep well away from in the heat.

            G'day mate
Ah --- but then you could enjoy "a cat on a hot tin roof" (if you remember the musical from the '60s)
