Tropic of Capricorn marker, central Aus

G'day all

The Tropic of Capricorn crosses Australia and roughly subdivides it horizontally, passing very close to Alice Springs in central Australia. This monument? / obelisk? / thing ! is there and I played with it through the afternoon as the light changed

1)- mid afternoon ... I carefully positioned the camera to exclude the tour bus parked behind it and the bollards surrounding the device.

exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/1300s x F4,0; ISO-100; lens at 3x zoom / 75mm FFequiv

2)- getting towards late afternoon - the sun is falling towards the horizon (sky severely darkened in PP)

3)- after sundown - now illuminated only by the post sunset glow in the sky

Ah but..
The Tropic of Capricorn is moving north at something like 15 metres per year so is this the real 2022 Tropic marker is is it just indicating where the Tropic was at some time in the past.

I like the evening shot best.

Well thought out and executed project Phil. I didn't know about that "thing", not having been there. I don't think the sky edit in #2 worked out that well. Why did it need changing?

Twas a bit too bleached for my liking and I thought that I would have a play with the sky

#1 is ok Phil but neither composition or light stands out.

#2 is interesting although Ibwould lose the van. It has some serious haloes; I find resizing an image tends to really emphasise them.

#3 is excellent, beautiful colour and light.

#1 was what many tourists would get via their fone-cams, along with all the visual junk surrounding the site, and #3 is the one that appeals to me mostly because of the light and 'softness' of the scene
