This is nicely composed and makes you wonder what was made there. It is a good size kiln. It would benifit, like my shots, from a bit of sunlight

It was a very cloudy and overcast day Hans, hence the lack of sunlight.

They manufactured.charcoal there during WW2 for use in cars that were adapted to run using charcoal burners. There are several complete burners on display in the area behind the kiln. You can just see some of the remaining restored workers cottages in the trees above the roof of the display area.

I like the soft light John and I like the composition, although I think it could be improved a bit by cropping some of the bare foreground.

Lovely subject and well photographed. Me, I would have shot horizontal to show more scale and surroundings to get a feel to where it was situated in the scene - but that's me and I'm a bit weirdI Shoot A Canon
