  • Monsters are alongside us

    G'day all

Parking overnight in a roadside layby, this big-fella and the pilot vehicle arrived after dark - flashing warning lights everywhere, and early next morning I made the comparison shots to the caravan parked nearby

    1) overall height over caravan ... front tyre is 1,8m diameter

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/125s x F3,2; ISO-800; lens at 1x zoom / 24mm FF equiv

    2) wheel tracks - the harvester's inside track is wider than the caravan's outside wheel track

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/15s x F2,8; ISO-800; lens at 2x zoom / 60mm FF equiv

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

Monsters is a great title for these huge vehicles Phil. Well photographed and great story. Standing on the deck of a Haulpak up north at a Rio mine site made me feel so small. They carry over 200 tonnes. The other is a Le Tourneau Wheel Loader (L1850) and the bucket carries 25 cubic metres and 6.4m wide. Yours truly in control!
