It is an annual event getting to be quite popular. Most people would say this sort of photography requires at least a F2.8 mm lens. With the higher iso settings getting better I tend to disagree. I suppose it depends on how the image is used as well. -
What you're using seems perfectly capable of handling the situation Hans. That "kit" lens has been getting rave reviews. I like a good depth of field in shots like this, because your not just honing in on one particular subject, more a general coverage of all that's going on. I personally think a narrow DOF would spoil it.
