  • F18's last visit....

Wing Commander Scott Woodland with the Royal Australian Air Force flew one of Australia ageing F/A-18 Hornet's into Mildura
over the weekend for its final visit before being put out to pasture.

#1. Showing up and showing off...

    Canon EOS 7D - 2019-06-21 14:07:40 - 1/8000 sec - Aperture priority - 0.33 EV - ƒ5 - ISO 400 - 200 mm - Spot

#2. We were able to get up-close-n-personal. (Not as big or as impressive as first thought)

    Canon EOS 80D - 2019-06-23 10:27:04 - 1/50 sec - Aperture priority - 0 EV - ƒ4.5 - ISO 400 - 24 mm - Spot

#3. Taxing up the runway getting ready to leave

    Canon EOS 7D - 2019-06-24 09:08:00 - 1/2000 sec - Aperture priority - 0.33 EV - ƒ5.6 - ISO 400 - 400 mm - Spot

#4. BLAST OFF!...The cooler weather really helped with the heat haze.
A new chain-mesh fence has been erected since I was last there so propped myself up on the car as close as I could get
and was covered in dust-n-grit and nearly blown away...wonderful!

    Canon EOS 7D - 2019-06-24 09:09:44 - 1/3200 sec - Aperture priority - 0.33 EV - ƒ5.6 - ISO 400 - 340 mm - Spot

        G'day matey

A great set of pics - and put the last one on the lounge room wall as a 20" x 30" eye-opener to heaps of conversations
Q- you say it was on its last flight - but where was it going to? a static museum? a mob like Temora Aero museum? etc.

          Thanks very much, people.
I'm still grinning from ear-to-ear (Still cleaning dust and grit from everywhere)

          Ozzie_Traveller Yes, I believe a static museum.
There is a push to have it back here and compliment our small collection. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

          Cheers.

Just thought I'd add an extra image taken in April last year when he came to help us celebrate ANZAC day.
It was a lot warmer and I was standing further to the right not knowing what to expect when he 'floored' it. Also, no fence then so was able to stay low.

Have to agree with others Gaz. Great set and the last one is super. It would have been quite a blast to be there with the camera.
