I love your processing on these P Plates, real detail extraction. I think we need a thread which shows before and after with a bit of "How you did it" thrown in. It would be good for the newbies and oldies alike. What's your thoughts?

Thanks Isac. I do tend to use plug ins for detail - either Topaz Detail or On1 Effects - adjustment brush. I know you can do it with PS but I lazily, like the one click option. Will show a before and after with my next post.

My type of shot, I don't know about the Sharpening though, looks a bit HDRish but the scene is good.

Thanks Paul. The HDRish effect is caused using lightroom and pulling the highlights down 100% and raising the shadows 100%.

Great old buildings, in interstig contexts and lots of character brought in by the processsing.
Wonderful depth in these.

I like what you are doing to these old buildings. Is it a secret or would you share your processing?

No secret Greg. Open in ACR or Lightroom, do basic editing such as reduce highlights (quite often to -100%), raise shadows, set white and black points, temp then open in PS. I use plug ins, either Topaz detail or On1 Effects (you can quite often get just the effects section of this software free) and just brush the detail into the building. There is another I sometimes use called 'freaky amazing detail' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV9u0Wu8L0M. It works well and I just brush in the effect where I want it at approx. 30%

You're doing a great job explaining your work flow P Plates. Nik software has a detail extractor in Color Efex which is fabulous and I had a look at the Youtube one as well. I have already made an action for the freaky detail, it works very well.
I think the some of our members would love you to tell them what you mean by "brush in".
