  • Another lot of planes + a skydiver

I was in the back yard again and it was raining planes again haha

I have not had much time yet to even play around with the new lens, I am hoping to get time tomorrow to go out with it. I shot these today.

Now, they don't look all that sharp, but the main point to remember is the distances are quite significant. I'll put the approximate distances above the shots. The closest would be at least 500 metres, the furthest around 1000 metres. The furthest were so far away I had to use manual focus just to find them in the sky, then when I got them in the viewfinder I switched to auto, centre spot focus, 1 beep then fired off the shot.

    Glider, around 500 metres

Tow plane, the same, 500 metres

    Skydiver's plane, around 500 metres

Skydiver, at least 1000 metres or more and really heavily cropped and sharpened!

And this, Tow plane and glider, around 1000 metres and heavily cropped

All shots were at 500 zoom. I can't wait to actually get the time to go out and get used to this lens! To say I have high hopes for it are an understatement haha

All were shot at Av10 or 11, shutter speed 650.

        You need a ladder.

Just kidding Lloyd, nice shots and great detail considering the distances.

Thanks Guys. I headed over to the airport this arvo for some better ones, I've put them in a different thread though.
