  • More 50mm practice.

Had some more practice just using a 50mm lens, around Paddington. I have decided to convert the ones I like into B&W. These, like the previous Balmain ones were taken to help give me more ideas etc for my upcoming trip.
I may just pay Surry Hills and redfern a visit this weekend, to help improve my eye for detail and the odd, unusual scene.
The image of the cafe has had very little pp done (close cropped though, as I couldn't really stand in the middel of Oxford street without heading butting some oncoming vehicle). I just liked the way the sunlight, at the time lit up the key figures. Crazy using just a 50mm, maybe so but I like discipline you must keep in order to get some sort of reasonable image with one focal length, and I know B&W may bore some people, but for me old habits die hard.
The other two were just places in the back lanes etc...will keep practicing.

I like them but I prefer my street photos to be a little more grainy.

Yep I thought of that, Richard....so what I think I shall do is with the next batch, during the conversion with silver effex is use a high grain film and see what happens. I know I could do it with the current batch, but if I know what grain effect I will be aiming for,
it will hopefully help with the composition etc of the image(s).
      Ta for the reminder.

Sometimes walking out the door with only one lens can be fun Mike. It makes you think a lot more about your shots and when you do get a great shot for some reason you tend to appreciate it a lot more. I'm the opposite to K1W1, I like a good clean sharp B&W street shot like you have done.

Love the last one - the angle is great! Try some more crazy angles in the next batch and see what you come up with. I really like the B&W and I like it grunged (as you know) if the scene looks old to start with, but do love a clear b & w for the "today" looking stuff.......

I agree with Everyone! I love B&W too and I must admit that I have been a little distracted of late with the new Siggy. Mike, these a great images and you have reminded me that I have a Nifty 50 in the bag and should get out and about with it very soon. Thanks for the post.

Cheers guys, appreciate the feedback...mmmm maybe a theme using only a 50mm as a comp. Twisty, I aint too bad at crazy angles cause I am halfway there anyhow. Not sure about the grunge bit. I thought grunge was where you didn't change your undies for a few weeks...but hey....I'll try anything once.
