From 1914 until 1996 these three valves controlled firstly all then laterly a significant amount of the flow of potable water to Melbourne. These valves controlled up to 75 million litres of water travelling via aqueduct and pipes to Melbourne each day.

G'day mate

The mono treatment of this shot makes it more 'special' to me as an observer .... the use of simple technology from a bygone era is wonderful to see these days when so much of our "infrastructure" is electronic and thus cannot be seen as to how it works
