    At the Old Richmond Gaol.
Taken under very trying conditions, middle of the day, bright sun, brilliant blue sky. Trying to set the mood, not sure if I succeeded.
    C & C greatly appreciated.

Looks like a fun place. It deserved the stark treatment you have given it. Like the texture and the black sky.
Better a full bottle in front of me
    than a full frontal lobotomy.

Thanks for the kind words Hans, a very depressing place despite the sunny day. The colour image does not convey the atmosphere.

        Your treatment seems spot on.
Was this near Broken Hill? It feels like I have been there

In the right hemisphere! I have been there as well though!

You're probably thinking of the museum at Silverton, a converted Gaol.

          Similarly depressing.

I like the B&W treatment in both John. It really gives them dramatic feel. Well done. I would have removed the grain from the sky in #1, just me though. What did you do the PP in?

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks for the feedback Isac. It was originally a 7 image HDR photo, processed using a combination of Nic HDR Efex Pro2, Color Efex Pro2 and Silver Efex Pro2. I did not keep the .PSD file so I can't go back and see the exact workflow. I really should keep my .PSD files for reference, I have enough disk space.
Feel free to have a go at cleaning up the grain.

Thanks for the details John. I did a quick edit to remove the grain from the sky and IMHO it looks a bit better - pitch black looks eerie. Put a moon in it and add some moon glow!

Yes that was where I was thinking. There was a courtyard next to the cell of what that image reminded me. The second picture is also quite grim. Some people lived miserable lives.

Some people still do, and, unfortunately they don't have to be incarcerated to live in misery.

If I had a religious bone in my body I would thank God for having been born a white person in a Christian country. I'm sure that was a good start.
