  • 2018 Cranbourne GP Run

I went in to Cranny this morning to capture some of the GP atmosphere. It was a very bleak and cloudy morning with the threat of rain so the atmosphere was a bit subdued this year.
I decided to try a photo-journalist approach to my photos and PP for this event. Very little PP done, just lens correction and adjustments for Highlight and shadow in ACR. Desaturation and Halftone in PS6 to give the effect of newspaper images.
    C&C welcome.

Thanks Greg. I went there hoping to find some classic older bikes, but the place was overrun by Hayley's. I could be getting myself in trouble here but, IMHO, Harley's are to motorbikes what Jayco is to caravans.

Can’t make comment on caravans, never had one and never will. However had a few bikes some of which may be considered classics. 1940s 200 James. 1940s 200 Francis Barnett (ended up making one good bike out of the two). 250 BSA single from 1950s. CB450 Honda ex cop bike and my last bike was a Yamaha DT250 road trail bike. Have let my licence lapse now so probably won’t get another. Have to settle for my electric assist hybrid off road bicycle!

I saw 1 Guzzi about half a dozen Indians and Triumphs. Was hoping to see a Vincent or two.
There were more Harley's than Honda's and Suzuki's combined.
I remember when having tattoo and a Harley were a sign of rebellion, now they're status symbols and a sign of conformity.

Liking the halftone PP John, very cool indeed.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks Isac, I had fun doing it.

A good collection John, and they work well in B&W, but the halftone screen look doesn't do much for me; I might go for some grainy B&W though. I really like #7 and #8.

Thanks for the feedback Alan. Thank goodness we're all different with different tastes otherwise we would never try anything new.
I'm going to have a play around with some of these images and put them up in the Artistic Expressions thread.
