A beautiful beach in a remote area where access is forbidden but I was lucky enough to have permission to camp here for a few days. As a general rule if a sunset doesn't look as though it will scrub up as a b&w I'll not bother as they tend to be no more than a colourfest imho. I felt this had enough structure, texture and form to be interesting but felt the colour was overpowering so b&w it be.

Sorry Mick, I think colour (subtle or in your face), is pretty high up in the list of the things required with sunsets.
In lieu of that element, the b/w clouds should have some interesting tones/details. I'd have to agree with SS here.
But I see you are 'walking on the wild side' at the moment
Cheers

It's an interesting effect, a bit dark and overpowering in itself. Definately something to think about but I'd like to see the colour version.

I Like the idea although i feel the sky area is too dark. foreground contrast looks good though. May be a good one for a PP comp Mick But I have 500 of my own files to edit after a few days in the bush. Mainly hot, dry, flat boring and cloudless saltbush country and with a few sandhills separated by very long rough dirty roads. Getting too old for this part of the countryLast edited by Lost; 07-11-2013, 07:30 AM.

Thanks Ian. There might be an element of 'you had to be there' to this image as for me it invokes good memories of my time camped on this beach. Might just let this one slide.
I can't wait to get out into hot, dry, flat desert country with the occasional sandhill and I love coming across signs like this lol! I've seen enough blacktop to last me two lifetimes

A very ominous sunset Mick, but I like it.Back in the day, before these new fangled digital doohickies,I used to do a lot of BW,including D+P,clouds and sunsets were among my favourites to play with using colour filters to get similar results to yours.Like the sign pic, good to see no graffiti or bullet holes.C+C,EDITS OK
I shoot a Canon 90D with a few bits of glass.

Thanks Kev. The sign looked clean as a whistle so I'll assume brand new. Give it time lol.Last edited by loose cannon; 09-11-2013, 09:37 AM.-----------------------------------------------------
