this is not grabbing me as most of your photos do Jules. With so many lookers and no comments maybe others think the same; but they could at least say so IMO
IMO: firstly there is too much composition between the black (on my screen) sky and the white sand. Trees also seem too blackish in places. Much of this is because of the bright sun light and I wonder if a cloudy day would be better for this subject.
I also feel you are on the wrong side of the river; rotate the image and you will see what I mean. To me it's a far better composition.
I find this an interesting/challenging image and I will fiddle it some more later on if you don't mind. Post up the original if you wish.
I sure do, about 1-1/2K further along the road, I was down there last week taking the same subject, or actually the rocks about half way along from the new bridge to the old one. I still haven't had a decent pic of this subject yet, it seems to always come out 'busy' looking, looking from the new bridge the trees won't play nicely. It looks such a photogenic bridge though - you've taken a better pic than I ever have , here's an example of one of mine, way too busy - YUK. (hope you don't mind my messing around in your post.

Was great to see your pic though.

Nice reflections Jenne!! Don't mind at all! Again I mainly posted it because of you being nearby! Those powerlines are a pain, Managed to clone them out though!
hmmm Jules - 2.20am - was the result of this nightowl activity pics of the milky way I saw on FB this morning? Saw it on my phone but haven't caught up with it on my computer just yet .....
Yes those power lines! But the funniest thing is the telephone lines going along the beach, and underneath the 'stream' on the beach side of the bridge, after some rough water they hang out loose about 6 feet in the air and blow around in the wind, makes me glad I don't have a landline and wireless internet
I think the image is a whisker too dark but that's a minor thing and could be no more than my uncalibrated monitor.
From a compositional point of view I find my eye stops at the bridge and goes no further. If it is possible to shoot from a slightly higher perspective maybe we could see beyond the bridge and further down the river, tricky, I know.
Don't suppose you carry a tall step ladder in your kit by chance lol.

Climb a tree, Jules! I agree with Mick here. Not enough interest in the top half of the photograph.
I still like it though. Would be interested to see the colour version. I feel as though Jenne's lends itself to the black and white very nicely, as it would likely be too busy in colour, whereas yours might be better in colour because there's not as much tonal variation with that big mass of sky.
