Egyptian Goose

This old bird is very hoppy and lame but he and his mate come back every year to their nest in a coppiced ash tree.

Only seen one set of young though

They are very attractive birds. There are a lot in East Anglia and apparently in London and the home counties.

The image below was of the one brood we have seen hatched.

Ah, what a great looking bird. You've captured it with excellent detail, light and colour and framing. Their kids a cute when they're little, great family portrait!

Thanks ISAC. She obviously didn't like me being near the kids so later that day moved them to a pond about a quarter of a mile across the fields. When they fly you see large white patches on the upper and lower wings and black and green on the wing tips. Rubbish picture taken with Canon 450d gives you an idea

They are a beautiful bird Alf. A bit similar to our Shelducks.

Great pose well caught. With a little bit of imagination could almost be a negative of the Egyptian Goose..
