  • More birds from this morning

There are usually plenty of birds at Tygum Park and this morning was no exception. Lots of Fairy-wrens although they didn't perch in the open often and most of their shots needed some removal of annoying twigs.

Super sharp set Alan. Is the new camera working well...?

Thanks Mark. The camera is going well. Focus seems faster, frame rate is much faster, just a touch of the shutter button can give six or more images instead of two or three. I like the blackout-free viewfinder and quiet vibration-free shutter too.

Battery drains much faster, lasting hours rather than days like the D850.

Wake up time is a fraction slower being perceptible, where the D850 was instant. I missed a couple of shots due to a black viewfinder. I just need to make sure I touch the shutter to wake it up a bit earlier.

RE Wake up time, I had a very slow W/U time, which was resolved by formatting or replacing the SD card.

      Still not the fastest.

My OM1 ii does not have GPS. To get coordinates, I link the cameras to my iPhone, and that loads the GPS onto the photos. Thus, I now keep the camera on once linked, it gets through batteries faster (2 batteries on board), but always ready to go...

The slight wake-up delay just means I have to touch the shutter button or turn the camera on as I start to lift it to my eye. The optical viewfinder on the D850 is always on. It just catches you out at first. No GPS on any of my cameras; I think I can use the phone too, but I've never bothered to try it/

    Looking good. Great work.
