  • Birds Returning

Lovely wildlife is slowly returning to the lake on Kalari Drive after the City destroyed the habitat by slashing the bullrushes (which was protection and a food source for many birds and small animals). Now that the stench of the rotting bullrushes (which the City just left there) has almost gone, the birds are returning albeit in small numbers and and only a few of the tougher species. Here's a few I've seen lately.

That is pretty good variety Isac. Love the ducklings.

The main lake at Eagleby is still covered in dead stalks although there are a couple of very small areas of clear water. Very few water birds to be seen there. Going to take a while to recover even if it doesn't dry out again.

Like our lake, Eagleby will recover, they always do. They do a lot better without human knowalls sticking their bib in

It will be spring in a couple of weeks Hans. I walk the dog there most days and always have the camera over my shoulder. Not had much to photograph latel and together with the mojo being a little low, it hasn't yeilded many keepers.

Thanks Mark. I love the herons, they are so graceful and very efficient hunters.
