  • Pied Oystercatchers

These were dozing on the beach and seemed a bit skittish at first; whenever I approached they would move away, but I found that if I crouched down they would go back to sleep. I eventually got close enough for some decent shots

Excellent shots Alan. Really like the simplicity of the first one.
    Fujifilm X-T5, XF16-80 f/4, XF70-300 f/4-5.6, XF23 f/2, XF35 f/2, XF150-600 f/5.6-8, and a random assortment of 35mm film cameras.

Yeah, the best way is on your belly mate. Just that lower POV makes for much better images (as long as you can get up again - that sort of puts me off a bit, although flip and tilt screens are a good work around)

I’ve tried the tilt screen but autofocus isn’t as easy with the DSLR. Normally I don’t have much trouble getting up again but keeping the camera away from the sand adds to the difficulty

The camera's worst enemies - water and sand!

Thanks. One of the good things about the beach is no clutter.

Perfect for a bird book. All details in well defined glorious colour.
