As I walked along the track I heard an unusual bird call coming from the leaves of a tall shrub. After looking for a few minutes this Spangled Drongo show its head but wouldn't come into the open. I have heard and seem them before but don't remember some of the calls this one was making. It looks black to the eye but has an irridescent blue sheen in the light.
I continued waiting and finally got a couple of clear shots but one was in mixed sun and shade and the other was in deep shade.
These are my processed results after removing some of the annoying bright spots in the background.
1. This is the only shot with decent light and exposure.
2. The red eye and forked tail are distinguishing features for this species.
3. This is actually lower ISO than #2 but the bird was under-exposed giving a noisy low-contrast image.
