Lovely portrait of our state emblem Kevin, excellent detail and the background is perfect to make it pop. They are so graceful. I'm sure our swan familty will return to our lake to have their cygnets, when the rain comes.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

I'm holding out for more cygnets this spring. IF we get rain to fill the lake.

I have only seen them with white spots on their beaks. Must have a look and see if they are only in Australia. Nice strong image.

I wasn't aware that the breeding was every 4 years. Perhaps in different regions. The swans here breed every year but only the once. 5-6 eggs, but they only lay one each day - and they both share the incubation after the last egg has been laid. It's been a privelage to observe them and something I will treasure.Last year 4 cygnets survived and they were here for several months. I hope the same happens again this year.

From what I gather when I read that it was that it could be between 1 and 4 years. I suppose it would depend on conditions

Probably correct there Hans. Perhaps it depends on whether mummy swan has a headache or not.
