I went back to Eagleby Wetlands having generously applied mosquito repellent and wearing a supposedly mosquito-proof shirt (it wasn't quite, but did seem to keep most out).

1. Golden-headed Cisticola from a bird hide


2. Pheasant Coucal. Difficult lighting with the dark bird backlit against bright foliage.


3. Juvenile Pied Currawong

5. Pacific Black Duck riding up the river with the rising tide on a floating log

Quite a nice variety you got. The 1st, 3rd, and 4th are my favorites.

Nice work Alan. The Pheasant Coucal is one I've never seen. It seems to be only in East and Northern Australia. very unique "cuckoo" and makes some really weird noises. The pose on the curry is fabulous.

Thanks Isac. The pheasant council is fairly common but usually shy and secretive. I often hear them but only see them from a distance or when they fly off from their hiding place.
