    Red Kite at Hendy.

I tracked it in from 1/2 mile or so and caught this almost overhead...

Great shot. A slight lift on the shadows brings out a lot of detail on the underside of the wing.

Hi Mark. I agree with all A&B mentioned. I would have liked to see the entire bird as well. Did you crop or not? Your TC seems to have good clarity.

Thanks for the comments. Yes agree I could have lifted the shadows under the wings. No, I missed the tail end, as the bird flew past, but I thought it helped to get close up to the bird's eye...

I have the series from afar to this close-up, this was by far the best..

              Mark + team

"not quite as sharp" ......... we all seem to want the ultimate in sharpness from our lenses - but

When I re-look into images from 20+ yrs ago, the overall lack-of-sharpness when compared with today's lenses is a stark reminder as to how much better the current batch of stuff really us. Doesn't stop us still wanting the impossible here and now

Yes agreed Phil. We expect too much sometimes, but no harm going for the top shelf. The j=kit we use these days is amazing...

I like the detail of the eye shown in the crop and it looks nice and sharp. The angle of the light didn't help here and I think brightening the head a little would help, but a very nice shot.

I like the photos and the comments. interesting comments about sharpness. There are prints in Gulgong taken from glass plates 250 years ago that amazed me with their sharpness.
