  • Some Tygum Park birds

I bought myself a 1.4x Teleconverter for Christmas and tried it for the first time this morning. My visitors have gone and the rain has stopped, although there is more on the way. Tygum Lagoon is full and 10mm or so over the path in spots.

Focus is a noticeably slower with the TC and it reduces sharpness a little but I'm happy with it so far.

All with D850, Nikon 500 PF plus 1.4TC giving 700mm at f/8 wide open

That TC seems to be working well for you. Nice shots Alan.

Just wonderful Alan. I don't think I could ever get my shots to look that good. Well done.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks Isac. The morning sun helps as I don't usually do a lot to them - pull highlights back a little, lift shadows a little, add a bit of texture, a bit of vibrance and sharpen. Most of these are a bit cluttered.

Much the same as I do Alan, just to give them a lift.

Looks like this will become a regular part of your kit. Very nice images, particularly like the intermediate Egret looks a little dark at this end though.

Thanks Hans. It's best used in bight light on static subjects as the autofocus can struggle at times, but it should come in handy when I can't get as close as I would like. It could go a little brighter without blowing whites but it doesn't make much difference to overall appearance.
